Logistics Agency (DLA) is hosting an EMall Pre-proposal conference,
March 20, 1998, 9:00 to 11:00, at the Defense Supply Center Columbus,
Building 20 Auditorium, 3390 East Broad Street, Columbus Ohio. A copy
of the EMall solicitation is available at
http://www.dscc.dla.mil/dscc.html or contact Jim Secrist, DSCC-PLV,
james_secrist@dscc.dla.mil, (614)692-7346. Pre-registration is not
necessary. DLA is looking for vendors to offer spare parts on the
Internet based Electronic Mall (EMall). Through the EMall, all military
customers and other authorized users can search for and order spare
parts and other needed logistics support items conveniently and
quickly. Vendors should be manufacturers, distributors, or dealers, and
have the ability to provide specific manufacturer's parts ordered.
Vendors must have a satisfactory performance record for supplying
commercial or military spare parts, must offer prompt delivery, and
must be able to transmit and receive EDI transactions. To learn more
about the types of parts we are looking for, see
http://www.supply.dla.mil/ for DLA Products and Services. The EMall
consists of a powerful search engine that will quickly provide
information on exactly which products, prices and delivery options are
available for items managed from DLA inventory or items available
directly from vendors. EMall features include: 1. DLA customers may
search for items by NSN, CAGE and part number, nomenclature, or item
characteristics. 2. All vendor items will be covered by long term
contractual arrangements which will permit customers to order items
that will be shipped directly from the vendor at discounted prices. 3.
EMall customers will be able to acquire items by traditional MILSTRIP
requisitions or with the IMPAC credit card. 4. The EMall will allow
DLA customers to do real-time comparison shopping among multiple
sources, including DLA inventories. Information made available through
the EMall to DLA customers may include price, inventory availability,
product data sheets, GIF images of the selected part, CAD models, and
other information as determined appropriate to assist the customer in
making item decisions. (0070) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0379 19980313\99-0006.SOL)
