A -- CLOSURE OF REMAINING DEGELAN MOUNTAIN, KAZAKHSTAN, TUNNEL PORTALS TO INCLUDE CLOSURE RESEARCH ACTIVITIES POC Carol Dickerson, Negotiator, (703) 325-1193, Scott Morton, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-1200 In accordance with an agreement dated 3 Oct 95, and amended 10 Jun 96, between the Department of Defense (DoD) of the United States and the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) plans to award a sole source modification to contract DSWA01-98-C-0016 with the National Nuclear Center (NNC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the custodian of the former Semipalatinsk Test Site in Kazakhstan. Tasks will be added to the existing contract to cover Tunnel Rehabilitation for Add-on Experiments, including borehole drilling for DSWA instrumentation, grouting boreholes for DSWA instrumentation, and additional concrete stemming and explosives placement, special detonation requirements, tunnel re-entry requirements, power for DSWA instrumentation, and geological sampling.
