Agent, whiteman@code59.npt.nuwc.navy.mil. The Naval Undersea Warfare
Center Division, Newport has a requirement for purchase of four (4)
each prototype rotor/stator sets. The rotor/stator sets are to be used
by the government to build a submersible electric motor. The quote is
to include all labor and materials for design and fabrication of the
permanent magnet type rotors and associated slotless stators. The
contractor shall design and fabricate four (4) each prototype
rotor/stator sets with the following performance and geometric
criteria: I -- Rotor/Stator set is to be for fabrication of a slotless,
brushless dc motor. 2 -- Performance requirements of motor are: 40 HP
at 700 RPM 400 volts max 100 amps max efficiency 85% 3 -- Rotor
assembly is to be dynamically balanced to 1000 RPM 4- Stator will have
"Hall Effect" position sensors to be mounted and tested at small
diameter end of assembly. 5-Two thermal sensors are to be mounted in
each stator 6- The motor geometry is given in the drawing (upon
request) -- motor cross section is conical, using an 11.25 degree half
angle -- id of rotor at leading edge: 14.72" -- id of rotor at
trailing edge: 13.74" -- length of rotor assembly: 2.5" 7-Stator end
turns are to be no more than .5" in length 8-Cross section of stator
end turns at large diameter end of assembly is to be cylindrical with
no taper. 9-Motor air gap to be uniform .075" wide and same 11.25 deg
conical taper as rotor and stator. 10-Power and sensor leads are to
exit small diameter end of assembly and have insulation which is
waterproof to 20 psi. Delivery shall be to NUWC, Newport, RI, F.O.B.
Destination by 1 June 98. *See Note #1 the proposed contract is 100%
set aside for small business concerns. The Government intends to award
a single contract on a Firm Fixed Price basis. A request for quote
