The Naval Air Systems Command intends to release a draft RFP for the engineering and production of an Optical Sensor Converter (OSC) upgrade to replace the SU-164/AAR-47 for the AN/AAR-47 Missile Warning Set (MWS) to improve high temperature performance; improve detection sensitivity; impose a maximum sensitivity; reduce saturation effects in OSC recovery time; and update, document, and test software to support this OSC. The solicitation will include ID/IQ provisions for engineering services. A multi-sensor/system function (i.e. laser warning) will be incorporated into the production AN/AAR-47 MWS. A Technical Data Package will be provided. The package includes some classified (SECRET) information. All written requests for the package must include a cleared address to which SECRET information can be mailed, an address for unclassified mail and the name and telephone number of a cleared point of contact. Only changes to the original data package will be provided with the formal RFP. Contractor comments on the package are requested and may be utilized in preparation of the formal RFP which is anticipated to be released on 18 May 1998. Anticipated release of the draft RFP is the end of March 1998. A preproposal conference to discuss questions concerning this procurement is planned for 28 April 1998.
