Infectious Diseases, Contract Management Branch, Solar Bldg., Room
3C07, 6003 Executive Blvd. MSC 7610, Bethesda, MD 20892-7610 A -- CENTRALIZED IMMUNOLOGY LABORATORY SUPPORT SOL NO1-AI-65305 POC
Lawrence M. Butler, Contracting Officer, (301) 496-0192 The National
Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) intends to
negotiate a modification to its 7 year cost-reimbursement contract with
Duke University Medical Center NO1-AI-65305, as a sole source under
authority of 41 USC 253 (c) (1) and FAR 6.302-1. The contract currently
provides standard, centralized immunology laboratory support for the
evaluation of immunization-induced systemic humoral and cellular
responses of volunteers enrolled in NIAID-sponsored Phase I and II
Clinical Trials of experimental AIDS vaccines. The negotiated
modification will increase the number of assessments of candidate AIDS
vaccine-induced anti-HIV-1 env, gag, pol and nef CD8+ Cytotoxic T
Lymphocyte (CTL) activity currently being performed under the contract.
Continued access to and support for these CTL assessments is necessary
to avoid a disruption in the evaluation of vaccine immunogenicity in
NIAID-sponsored Phase I and II Clinical Trials of experimental AIDS
vaccines. See numbered Note 22. No collect callswill be accepted.
