COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 16,1998 PSA#2052PRACTICAL SHOCK ANALYSIS AND DESIGN SHORT COURSE This short course is
being held June 8-12, 1998 in McLean, VA at the Booz, Allen Conference
Center. It is being co-sponsored by SAVIAC and MFPT. Course
instructors are Rudolph Scavuzzo, Henry Pusey and Robert Bort. Topics
covered include basic vibration theory, intro to mechanical shock,
shock measurement, underwater shock phenomena, basics of
multi-degree-of-freedom systems, shock qualification process, shock
qualifications by test, shock loads on equipment, shock qualification
by design analysis, analysis of medium-weight shock machine,
two-dimensional normal mode theory, practical design considerations,
special design and analysis tools, three-dimensional normal mode
theory, selection of analysis methods, overview of finite element
analysis, and general problem solving workshop. A continuing education
certificate will be awarded upon completion of the course and will be
equal to three continuing education units. Cost for this course is
$1200 which includes a complete set of course notes, welcoming
reception, continental breakfast and lunch each day and two coffee
