70 -- COMMERCENET CONSORTIUM MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL DUE 032398 POC Cynthia Spencer (410) 965-3369 The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to issue a sole-source purchase order under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures to CommerceNet Consortium, 400 Miranda Ave., Ste 175, Palo Alto, CA 94304 for the continued membership in CommerceNet. CommerceNet is a consortium funded through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Air Force. CommerceNet is an open, Internet-based infrastructure for electronic commerce. CommerceNet was formed to facilitate this infrastructure to allow efficient interactions among customers, suppliers and development partners to decrease delays and cost of goods sold. The software support and membership are proprietary with CommerceNet; they are the only known source that can provide these services. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation, but merely notification of the Government's intent to continue its membership in CommerceNet. Requests for copies of a solicitation in response hereto will not be honored or acknowledged. TheGovernment does not intend to pay for information provided in response to this publication. If an acceptable response is not received within 10 days, an order will be issued to CommerceNet for continued membership. Respondents should refer to CS-CNET. (0072)
