COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 17,1998 PSA#2053RENOVATION OF THE U.S. BOTANIC GARDEN CONSERVATORY The Architect of the
Capitol (AOC) has established a list of contractors who will be
solicited for the project, "Renovation of the U.S. Botanic Garden
Conservatory". The listed contractors have met the $20 million bonding
requirement. Several speciality areas have been identified under this
project as possible subcontracting opportunities. These speciality
areas are as follows; 1) landscape and landscape exhibitor, supply and
installation of significant plant specimens, construction of permanent
landscape exhibits (rock work and water features) throughout the glass
houses and exterior court yards, 2) glass house and glass house
controls, new glazing wall system in orangerie, replacement of the
aluminum glazing system and glass, new automated environmental control
system for the glass houses, glass house systems including automated
vent operators, shade cloth systems, fixed louver shade system,
fogging, reverse osmosis (RO) and water treatment systems to supply
fogging system, 3) electrical, 2 hydraulicelevators, facility security
systems, facility fire protection system lightening protection system,
emergency generator, and 4) mechanical, 3 new mechanical machine rooms
supplying the addition, glass houses, display halls and orangerie, 2
utility tunnels and below grade air supply distribution system. Any
interested subcontractor may fax (202/225-3221), a written request to
the AOC Procurement Division to obtain a copy of the list of
contractors. Subcontractors should contact contractors on the list to
discuss the specifications and subcontracting opportunities. It is
anticipated that the solicitation will be released on or about March
