The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Acquisition Center (NAC) intends to issue a solicitation for the distribution of pharmaceutical products and selected medical/surgical products (outpatient use only), on a next-day delivery basis, to VA healthcare facilities and other Government agencies (total 560 sites). Offerors must be capable of supplying approximately 20,000 pharmaceutical items and medical/surgical items covered by Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) contracts and VA National contracts, as well as supplying non-contract pharmaceutical items. Offerors are advised that certain provisions for electronic and EDI ordering, invoicing, payment, and reporting will be required as specified in the solicitation. The VA will issue one solicitation for 12 geographical regions. Regions 3 ("Appalachians") and 6 ("Great Lakes") are set-aside for small business competition. Facilities in Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and Manila, PI, are optional sites. The contract period of performance will consist of one base year plus four option years.
