This endorsement signifies that the communication security (COMSEC) subsystem has been certified as having met the appropriate minimum NSA security requirements and is therefore endorsed for use to secure the applicable level of U.S. government information. Allied Signal Inc. Communications Division -1300 E. Joppa Road, Baltimore, Md 21204 is the manufacturer of KIV-7's. The embeddable KG-84 COMSEC Module (KIV-7) is a compact, COMSEC device that protects classified and sensitive National security related digital data transmissions at data rates up to 512 kbps. The KIv-7 specifically addresses the growing demand to secure data communications links among users of personal computers, workstations, and facsimile equipment. Utilizing NSA's WINDSTER key generator, the KIV-7 is interoperable in specified modes with the KG-84, KG-84A equipment. The KIV-7HS version has 1,544 mbps synchronous data rate as compared to 512 kbps in the KIV-7.
