of Health (NIH), National Aging Institute (NIA), intends to negotiate
with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine a nine year
renewal contract to continue conducting a longitudinal study of age
effects on cardiovascular function in the Baltimore Longitudinal Study
of Aging (BLSA) population through the use of repeated gated blood
pool scan examinations during rest and exercise. This offeror,
possessing all the following essential capabilities, makes competition
unfeasible: 1) immediate and adjacent availablity of a Coronary Care
Unit and advanced resuscitative personnel and equipment; 2) facilities
for exercise stress testing, gamma camera imaging with depth
compensation, storage and retrieval and computer quantification of
data; 3) experience and competent staff capable of performing
radioisotopic myocardial perfusion scanning and gated blood pool
scanning with volume measurements and computer image analysis; and, 4)
proximity to the BLSA population. The appropriate statutory authority
is 41 USC 253(a)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii) and FAR
6.302-1(b)1(i). This is NOT a Request for Proposal. If, however, there
are any responsible sources who feel that they possess ALL of the
above capabilities which would enable them to perform this project,
they may submit proposals which will be considered by NIH. SEE NUMBERED
