NAVY PROCUREMENTS SUBJECT: POTENTIAL SOURCES SOUGHT POC: M. J. POITEVIN
(408) 742 -- 0294 Purpose: Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space Company
invites all interested sources to participate in the redeisgn and/or
production of the Test Missile Kit utilized in the TRIDENT II (D5)
Missile Flight Test Program. Description: Lockheed Martin Missiles and
Space Company, 1111 Lockheed Martin Way, Sunnyvale, Ca. 94088 intends
to solicit for the replacement of obsolete and or out of production
Test Missile Kit Components. Total quantity of kits is approximately
135. The Test Missile Kit is composed of three subsystems, tracking,
telemetry and flight termination. Tracking incorporates components
required to acquire missile location utilizing GPS and to perform on
board processing or translation to a telemetry subsystem compatible
input. The telemetry system incorporates components that compile analog
and digital data from remote locations through out the missile into two
digital data links (1.2 mega bits each) which are transmitted via RF to
ground stations. The flight termination system incorporates a destruct
radio frequency unit, power control components and ordinance
initiation units. All three systems require dedicated batteries.
Updated components utilizing state of the art technology are being
considered as candidate replacements for all present components.
Modification of system architecture is being considered to accommodate
cost effective commercial off the shelf components(COTS). Optional
ordnance initiation concepts are being considered to protect against
unavailability or unacceptable cost for duplicating present high
voltage design. Alternate concepts and or high voltage piece parts are
being solicited. However, in all instances low cost is a significant
issue in technology and component selection. Schedule: Initial
evaluation will be completed first quarter CY1999 with submittal of a
proposal. Contracts may commence last quarter CY 1999 with first
production units available 2002 with continuing production. Support of
this schedule and cost definition require final system architecture,
package definition and piece part selection completion in CY 1998.
