COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 19,1998 PSA#2055Defense Supply Service-Washington, 5200 Army Pentagon, Rm. 1D245,
Washington, DC 20310-5200 D -- SOLE SOURCE PROCUREMENT FOR DEVELOPMENT OF DATABASE STRUCTURE DUE
040198 POC Contract Specialist, Sandy Spiess (703) 681-1642;
Contracting Officer, Cathy Buehler (703) 695-7579 E-MAIL: Sandy Spiess,
Spiesss@ncr.disa.mil. Defense Supply Service-Washington (DSS-W)intends
to negotiate a sole source contract with Mitretek Systems, Inc., a
not-for-profit organization, for the development of a database
structure to view geographic information and provide the ability to put
the information gathered into a network architecture design tool that
identifies aggregation. Negotiations are being conducted with Mitretek
Systems Inc., 7525 Coleshire Drive, McLean,VA 22102, on a sole source
basis. The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) is in the process
of developing the architecture for a Defense Information Systems
Network (DISN) Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) in support of the
Department of Defense (DoD) voice, data, video, plus local access voice
service requirements. Mitretek Systems, Inc., in support of another
federal agency, has developed a database that lends itself to meet
DISA's MAN design and analysis requirements. The developed database has
been structured to permit agency privacy information, provide the
ability to view geographic information, and provides the ability to
input the information gathered into a network architecture design tool
that identifies aggregation where appropriate. Given Mitretek Systems'
already demonstrated database structure and analysis process, DSS-W is
requesting that Mitretek systems apply this knowledge and structure to
support DISA's effort to compile an NCR metropolitan area database of
requirements and assist in its architecture studies. The cost of
redevelopment of a parallel database structure would not be cost
beneficial nor in the best interest of the Government. This notice of
intent is not a request for proposals; however, a capability statement
received within 15 calendar days after the date of this synopsis is
published will be considered by the Government. Information received
will be considered to determine whether to conduct a competitive
acquisition. However, any determination not to compete this contract is
within the Government's discretion. Interested concerns should submit
capability statements to Sandy Spiess, DISA/D21, Skyline 5, 5111
Leesburg Pike, Suite 9000, Falls Church, VA 22041-3205. No telephonic
statements of inquiries will be honored. (0076) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0020 19980319\D-0001.SOL)
