COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 20,1998 PSA#2056HSC/YAK, 8107 13th St, Brooks AFB, TX 78235-5218 65 -- COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE PATHOGEN IDENTIFICATION DEVICE WITH
CHEM/BIO APPLIC SOL JCPMS-1 POC Eileen King SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS:
THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION. Brooks AFB Life Support Office is seeking
to identify potential sources for a commercially available pathogen
identification device. This device must be capable of quickly (less
than 2 hours) diagnosing and identifying epidemic diseases in a
deployed environment. The military version must be: commercially
available hardware, software, and training materials; able to operate
as intended after experiencing shipment and handling in both military
and civilian aircraft; tolerant to dust and temperature and humidity
extremes; easily portable and integrated with a tough carrying case or
backpack; easy to use -- multiple steps required for sample
preparation, instrument programming, operation and data analyses need
to be mnimized and completely automated; and highly accurate. These
features are not listed in order of importance. Initial potential
quantities of 30 units for placement in Air Transportable Hospitals
(ATH) are anticipated. Potentially wider applications for equipment are
expected as new test protocols are optimized (i.e. First Responders).
Interested prospective sources must provide descriptive literature
about their device, along with a technical point of contact. Telephone
and e-mail inquiries are welcome. Contact Eileen King at (210)
536-2314; e-mail inquiries to eileen.king@hermes.brooks.af.mil. Collect
calls will not be accepted. Your written response is requested by 10
