NASA/LeRC plans to issue a Request for Quote (RFQ) for a Kane Security Monitor for IDE Production Servers, Qty. 1, ea., a Kane Security Monitor, Qty. 1, ea., And a Kane Security Analyst for IDE Production Servers, Qty. 1, ea. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) and the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) forms Pilot; a Pilot being conducted at several NASA Centers. This Pilot was developed in response to the National Performance Review's call for increased use of electronic commerce in exchanging procurement information. The Pilot uses several prescribed Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software applications to validate the feasibility of receiving proposals electronically, including encryption software to protect quotes from tampering. Vendors wishing to participate in this procurement by submitting an electronic quotation must first install and use the applications (provided free of charge) identified at http://klatu.arc.nasa.gov/Projects/NAISPilot/NAIS_Pilot/Tools.html. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 7372 and $18 million, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurment is DO-C9. The anticipated release date of RFQ 3-095935 is on or about March 19, 1998 with an anticipated quote due date of on or about April 3, 1998. All qualified responsible sources may submit a quote which shall be considered by the agency. Oral communications are not an acceptable response to this notice.
