A -- TOPONYMIC RESEARCH/CARTOGRAPHIC APPLICATION FOR THE GEOGRAPHIC NAMES INFORMATION SYSTEM (GNIS FOR THE STATE OF HAWAII AND THE TERRITORIES SOL 98HQSS1010 DUE 052098 POC Tammy Fanning (CO) 703-648-7363 Karen Staubs (Contact) 703-648-7372 The U.S. Geological Survey intends to issue a solicitation for the Phase II Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) research effort for the State of Hawaii, territories, Freely Associated States and outlying areas of America Samoa, Guam, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Island, Republic of Palau, Commonwealth of the North Mariannas, miscellaneous outlying areas in the Pacific, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, and miscellaneous Caribbean areas under U.S. jurisdiction. This effort shall include extensive and often complex Toponymic research from primary sources and secondary materials including maps, texts, and charts. The expected performance period is 48 months. Offerors must demonstrate expertise in Toponymic research and cartographic application of geographic names. Of paramount importance is a demonstrated access to primary and local sources for compilation of information. Cost sharing is encouraged.
