The United States Postal Service issues this notice of intent to Prequalify General Contractors for New Construction and Repair and Alteration projects. The U.S. Postal Service intends to prequalify contractors in two separate categories; Category 1 (New Construction) new construction projects in Northern Virginia (Arlington, City of Alexandria, Clarke, Culpepper, Fairfax, Faquier, Frederick, Loudoun, Madison, Page, Prince William, Rapahannock, Shenandoah, and Warren counties), District of Columbia, and the state of Maryland. The average project size ranges between 10,000 SF to 30,000 SF. USPS will issue Requests for Proposals on these projects only to the contractors placed on the `New Construction prequalified list'. Category 2 (Repair and Alteration) Repair and alteration projects from $250,000 to $2 mil. In Northern Virginia (Arlington, City of Alexandria, Clarke, Culpepper, Fairfax, Faquier, Frederick, Loudon, Madison, Page, Prince William, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, and Warren counties), Districtof Columbia, and the state of Maryland. USPS will issue Requests for Proposals on these projects only to the contractors placed on the `Repair and Alteration prequalified list'. The scope may vary from repair and alteration work such as architectural upgrades, civil/site work and mechanical and electrical systems upgrades; to overall renovation of existing postal facilities. Primary prequalification factors that will be considered are: (1) Experience; (2) Technical capability; (3) Past Performance; (4) Backlog: Number and value of active contracts; (5) Financial Capability: Balance Sheet and Income Statement, Bonding capacity Current letter of bondability, banking references will be evaluated to determine responsibility: (6) Management. Applicants will be evaluated by a USPS committee. Entities not selected for placement on the Prequalified List, as a result of this effort will be notified within sixty (60) days of the response date for this statement. Entities placed on the Prequalified List, will be notified and shall receive Requests for Proposals on future projects. These lists will remain active for a period of two (2) years.
