It provides field maintenance of the high speed and low speed repeatered coaxial cable systems and is a field portable. The Cable Orderwire Unit (COU) allows access to the cable system maintenance orderwires, monitors low and high speed conditioned diphase signals, and performs measurement of the power feed current. It is used in conjunction with the Cable Driver Modem, Remote Loop Group Multiplexer (RLGM) TD-1235, Remote Multiplexer Combiner (RMC), Remote Loop Group Cable Driver Modem (RLGM/CD) MD-1025, Group Modem (GM), Low Speed Pulse Restorer (LSPR) TD-1218, and High Speed Pulse Restorer (HSPR) TD-1219.
