COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 23,1998 PSA#2057Social Security Administration, Office of Acquisition and Grants, 1710
Gwynn Oak Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21207 70 -- ELECTRONIC DATA INTERCHANGE SOFTWARE DUE 040298 POC Jane Clark,
(410) 965-9486 E-MAIL: Contracting Specialist, Jane.Clark@SSA.Gov. The
Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking software that can
convert American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Accredited
Standards Committee (ASC) X12 Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
transactions into human readable electronic format for review in its
field offices (FOs). SSA is currently operating a pilot of receiving
ASC X12 811 invoice transactions for telephone bills and translating
them into accounting transactions with the Mainframe version of
Sterling Commerce's GENTRAN software. SSA wishes to automate the
invoice verification process by acquiring software that will allow the
appropriate FOs to read the EDI transaction, make any necessary
adjustments, and electronically confirm the bill. All electronic
transactions shall use SSA's existing infrastructure. SSA uses the
Sterling Commerce Connect:Direct software for file transfer between
Mainframe platforms and NT servers. The SSA-FO WAN/LAN topology
consists of Pentium Desktop PCs operating the Microsoft Office Suite,
including Internet Explorer for Intranet Access and NetSoft's NS Elite
3270 software for Mainframe access. Any organization capable of
providing this software is invited to submit information on their
capabilities, pricing data and any other pertinent data within 15 days
of this announcement. Please refer to EDI Software. This is a request
for information only. This is not a request for proposal (RFP). No
contract award will be made on the basis of responses received;
however, this information will be used in SSA's assessment of capable
sources. The Government does not intend to pay for information
received. (0078) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0369 19980323\70-0011.SOL)
