COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 23,1998 PSA#2057AUXILIARY DRY CARGO T-ADC(X) SUPPORT SHIPS The Naval Sea Systems
Command (NAVSEA) seeks industry comment on draft performance
specifications for the Navy's next generation Auxiliary Dry Cargo
T-ADC(X) support ship. The performance specification is posted under
information documents on the NAVSEA Contracts Home Page at
http://www.contracts.hq.navsea.navy.mil. Details of the acquisition
strategy for use of this performance specification are in the formative
stages; however, approximately 12 ships of the T-ADC(X) line are
anticipated. The specification contains, as 2nd tier and below
references, citations of Government specifications and standards that
are not performance specifications and have not been granted DoN
department wide waivers. It is intended that these documents will be
referred to as class requirements documents and that during the
solicitation process, offerors will be invited to propose alternative
specifications and standards. The Government is interested in industry
innovations and invites recommendations on commercial alternatives
that will reduce life cycle cost and improve efficiencies. Specific
areas of interest on which industry is encouraged to comment are
contained in a readme.doc file on the same home page with the
performance specification. For administration, submit all comments and
recommendations electronically in Word 6.0 to ADCX@HQ.NAVSEA.NAVY.MIL.
For uniformity, please submit questions in the format titled
comment.doc provided at the web site. The Government may choose not to
respond to each individual comment or recommendation, but will provide
feedback to areas of interest by posting comments, recommendations and
responses to the web site. Comments and recommendations will be held
as business sensitive and will not be accessible until posted for
publication. Company specific information will be omitted from all
information posted. This synopsis is a special situation notice as
defined by FAR 5.205(c). Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0538 19980323\SP-0007.MSC)
