A -- JPL INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIP FOR INSTRUMENT AND ROVER PROJECTS SOL 98/8 DUE 041598 POC Stephen Mitchell (818) 354-3494 (FAX) E-MAIL: Industry Partner, stephen.a.mitchell@jpl.nasa.gov. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory/California Institute of Technology (JPL/Caltech), operating under a prime contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), is seeking an industrial partner (collaborator) to participate in JPL's instrument and possible rover projects. This partnership will enhance JPL's capabilities in these disciplines. JPL plans to hold an Industry Briefing in late April, 1998. The ability to provide the following types of instruments, at a minimum, is being sought: (a) magnetometers;(b) plasma probes; (c) x-ray; (d) ultraviolet; (e) visible, near and thermal IR imagers and spectrometers; (f) interferometers; and (g) active and passive millimeter and submillimeter sensors. In addition, spacecraft assemblies and subsystems using technologies common to the instruments may be required. The scope of activities will include: (a) conceptual design; (b) detail design; (c) development; (d) fabrication; (e) integration; and (f) test. It is also anticipated that the industrypartner will, on a project-by-project basis, collaborate with JPL in preparation of proposals, perform conceptual design, system integration, spacecraft integration, and test and support. Geographic location will not be a factor in an industry partner selection. However, a field office will be needed near JPL. A single cost-reimbursable contract is planned for award in late 1998. This partnering contract is expected to be for a period of five (5) years with two (2) options of five (5) years each. The volume of business is expected to be $10M to $20M per year after the first year. Companies wishing to attend the Industry Briefing should notify the undersigned, with the names of no more than two (2) attendees, by April 15, 1998. Only these individuals will be provided badges to the Briefing. JPL plans to issue a draft Request for Proposal (RFP) prior to the Briefing. Companies interested in receiving a copy of the draft RFP or attending the Industry Briefing are invited to submit their name, a contact point, and pertinent information, in writing, no later than April 15, 1998 to: JPL, Stephen Mitchell, Mail Stop 190, 4800 Oak Grove Drive, Pasadena, CA 91108-8099 or via FAX to (818) 354-3494 or via e-mail to: stephen.a.mitchell@jpl.nasa.gov. Telephone inquiries will not receive a response. This is not a Request for Proposal. (0079)
