B -- INDEFINITE DELIVERY CONTRACT FOR SOILS TESTING SOL DACW69-98-R-0018 DUE 041598 POC Cheryl D. Brunty, CONTRACT SPECIALIST (304) 529-5006, John B. Roberts, CONTRACTING OFFICER Due to further definition of the Government's requirement, following is a revised description of commercial items advertised in the CBD on March 2, 1998. Be capable of extruding undisturbed (UD) tube samples up to 5-inches in diameter. Undisturbed samples may be extruded either vertically or horizontally. During extraction, the Contractor shall provide a means by which bending stresses on the sample are avoided. The lab must be capable of trimming, preparing and testing triaxial samples having diameters of 1.4-inches, 2.8-inches, and 4.0-inches. Have a minimum of 12 triaxial load cells with electronic data acquisition systems. The load cells shall meet the following requirements: A minimum of two (2) load cells shall be capable of applying loads up to 16 tons per square foot (TSF) on samples up to 4.0-inches in diameter. In addition to the minimum required number of 16 TSF capacity load cells, the Contractor shall have at least two (2) load cells capable of applying loads up to 12 tons per square foot (TSF) on samples up to 4.0-inches in diameter. In addition to the minimum required number of 12 and 16 TSF capacity load cells, the Contractor shall have at least eight (8) load cells capable of applying loads up to 8 tons per square foot (TSF) on samples up to 4.0-inches in diameter. Have a minimum of 10 falling head permeameters capable of testing samples up to 4.0-inches in diameter. Have a minimum of 5 consolidometers with electronic data acquisition systems. The consolidometers shall have the following capacities: A minimum of one (1) consolidometer shall be capable of applying loads and rebound loads up to 32 TSF on samples having a minimum diameter of 2.0-inches. In addition to the minimum required number of 32 TSF consolidometers, the Contractor shall have at least one (1) consolidometer capable of applying loads and rebound loads up to 16 TSF on samples having a minimum diameter of 2.0-inches. In addition to the minimum required number of 16 and 32 TSF consolidometers, the Contractor shall have at least three (3) consolidometers capable of applying loads and rebound loads up to 8 TSF on samples having a minimum diameter of 2.0-inches. Have a minimum of 2 Atterberg limits devices which completely meet the requirements and tolerances of the ASTM standard. Have the capacity and equipment needed to perform 10 hydrometer tests per day. Have electronic automated data acquisition systems which can be manipulated manually. Data acquisition equipment must be capable of reporting data using both English and metric units. Have all equipment necessary to perform all required tests in accordance with the cited standards. Maintain copies of the most recent versions of all cited standards and publications.
