The National Park Service is soliciting proposals (in the form of a negotiated firm-fixed price contract requiring submission of both a technical and a price proposal). The work to be performed under these contract documents generally describes infrastructure improvements to support future security system upgrades at Mount Rushmore National Memorial (Memorial) as follows: Procurement and installation of a new permanent guard structure to be located on Mount Rushmore (behind the sculpture), to provide a security staging location for extended deployment of personnel on the mountaintop. Additionally, the structure will house rock block monitoring and communications, and surveillance equipment. Procurement and installation of a new low voltage feeder and fiber optic communications circuit to the mountaintop. Installation of new electric power feed and control to the existing North Light Bank. Procurement and installation of standby emergency generators for several buildings throughout the Memorial site. Installation of physical barriers and fencing at the approaches to the sculpture to discourage unauthorized access to the sculpture area. -- Estimated price range, $250,000 to $500,000. Time for completion, 205 calendar days.
