842-6779 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is seeking
small businesses with the capability to locate, copy and evaluate
documents which contain information about historical chemical and
radionuclide releases from facilities at the Los Alamos National
Laboratory since its inception. The Government will evaluate the
contractor's corporate experience as it relates to successful
completion of projects involving environmental health physics, nuclear
engineering (especially source term modeling), chemical engineering
(especially source term modeling), industrial hygiene, environmental
toxicology, hydrology (modeling of contaminant transport in the
atmosphere), statistics, database design, compilation and
administration, and evidence that the contractor has successfully
worked with the public, including news media, special interest groups
and local governments. Familiarity with Los Alamos National Laboratory
and the surrounding area is highly desirable. Evidence that the
contractor has enough staff with Top Secret and DOE Q clearance in
order to review classified documents during performance of the contract
is also highly desirable. The capability statement forwarded in
response to this synopsis shall also include the total number of
employees involved; professional qualification of technical personnel;
a description of general and specific facilities and equipment
available. The standard industrial classification code (SIC) is 8748
and the size standard is $5.0 million. Only small businesses, as
defined pursuant to Section 3 of the Small Business Act, are asked to
respond to this synopsis. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) and
the Government is not committed to award a contract pursuant to this
announcement. Small business concerns that believe they possess the
capabilities necessary to accomplish the tasks stated herein should
submit five copies of a capability statement addressing the items above
no later than 4:00 p.m local time on April 13, 1998 to Vicki
Vandermier, Contract Specialist, Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, Procurement and Grants Office, 255 East Paces Ferry Road,
N.E. Room 500, M/S E-26, Atlanta, Georgia 30305. The information must
also establish the organization's status as a small business.

business set-aside, a competitive RFP will be sent to all qualified
