The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to obtain services of a part-time (15 hours/week) Electronic Engineer. The Contractor shall design, fabricate, maintain, and repair complex instrumentation with particular emphasis on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometers. In particular, the Contractor shall develop improved NMR hardware for obtaining both structural and dynamic information on molecular conformation with emphasis on biological macromolecules. The Contractor must have demonstrated through publications and/or patents his/her design skills and experience. The anticipated period of performance will be a Base Year with four (4) successive option year periods. NIDDK technical requirements will be released in the Request For Quote (RFQ) package in full detail. All responsible 8(a) and Small Business sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be within the Simplified Acquisition Thereshold for Commerical Purchases up to $5 million. It is anticipated that RFQ NIH-NIDDK-98-345 will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis, receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ.
