20894 A -- MOBILE TELEMEDICINE PROJECT POC Mary V. Adamik, Contracting
Officer, 301-496-6546 E-MAIL: click her to contact the contracting
officer via e-mail, mary_adamik@nih.gov. The National Library of
Medicine (NLM) intends to negotiate with BDM Federal, Inc. for a
one-year continuation of Contract No. N01-LM-6-3541 to conduct a Mobile
Telemedicine Project. Under this project the contractor has developed
an advanced technology testbed which investigates the feasibility and
practicability of transmitting real time vital sign data and video
images of patients from inside an ambulance to a hospital trauma center
and to a hospital data communications network via digital cellular
communications and local area network technology. The proposed
continuation will enhance the current digital cellular connectivity
with greater reliability and bandwidth, and expand physician access to
the system beyond the hospital via the Internet allowing instantaneous
24-hour availability. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in
FAR 6.302-1. Inherent duplication of cost to the government and
unacceptable delays in completing the project make competition
unfeasible for this enhancement. See Numbered Note 22. See Numbered
Note 26. (0083) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0004 19980326\A-0004.SOL)
