Seventh Street, Bldg 149, Long Beach, CA 90822 C -- ADVERTISE FOR LANDSCAPE MASTER PLAN SOL 664-98-507 DUE 042398 POC
Frank Fullbright (562) 494-5543 A/E Scope of Work: Area of work:
Outside Landscape Areas of the Facility Description of work: The A/E
contract will include the identification and inventory of the existing
exterior landscape for example, ground cover, plants, trees and
schrubs within the facilities boundaries to provide a detailed site
landscape plan. Preparation of a Master Landscape Plan reflecting both
existing and proposed conditions including the names of the existing
and new inventory. The Master Plan will include the formulation of both
plans and development of concepts with cost estimates reflecting a
phased approach to replacement. The A/E will meet with VA staff to
discuss goals for the project. It is recommended that native flora be
pursued in the design. Throughout the grounds there are memorial trees
as well as donated land marks, which are highly sensitive in nature.
Any proposed relocation of these will need to be approved by upper
management. During this phase the VA will work with A/E staff to
identify the requirements and program for the landscape renovation of
the campus, and examine the current landscape and hardscape
installations. The analysis and programming phase will include the
following tasks and meetings. a. An initial meeting with VA staff to
discuss goals fro the project and the design style of the proposed
landscape. b. A preliminary visit to familiarize A/E with the site, and
to assess opportunities and constraints of the campus. During this
visit the A/E will measure the site and note locations of visible
walks, fences, building and pavement. c. A site analysis to determine:
-- the condition of the existing irrigation system -- turf area
conditions -- landscape drainage systems and problem areas -- trees and
pruning recommendations, including removal/replacment -- views, both on
and off campus -- walkways circulation and accessibility -- landscape
area lighting -- potential for water/energy conservation -- potential
fro reduced maintenance time and expense -- erosion control include
value engineering The final product of this phase will be a detailed
narrative and visual schematic report outlining the existing site
inventory, including a site analysis plan keyed to the report & plans.
Included in this report is written program describing proposed campus
landscape and usable outdoor area additions in each of the areas. d.
Proposed layouts for the landscape enhancement are to be provided in
1:100 scale for site layout and perspective difining landscape
materials keyed to an index color coded for the different variety of
materials. This plan should also contain: -- seating and walkway --
entrance to buildings -- irrigation main & clocks existing & future --
accent & area walkway lighting -- patient/employee areas of gathering
& future -- parking lot way finding signage & landscaping -- building
identification signage A brief report describing the master plan is to
be provided. Specific recommendations for the entire campus relating to
the above areas of concern will be noted. The report will prioritize
improvements for phased implementation. This phase includes an itemized
estimate of probable cost and approach to completion of all phases for
a complete rejuvenation of the landscape at this facility. The
following grading/point matrix will apply to this project: Professional
