14 -- REQUIREMENT FOR MULTIPLE LAUNCH ROCKET SYSTEM (MLRS) SELF DESTRUCT FUZE POC James W. Cox, Jr., Contract Specialist, AMSAM-AC-TM-C, 205/876-8849 Kathleen M. James, Contracting Officer, AMSAM-AC-TM-C, 205/876-7347. The U.S. Army seeks prospective sources to submit teachnical concepts for a self destruct fuze for the MLRS rocket submunition. The MLRS Product Manager for Precision Guided Munitions is seeking information on the availability of self destruct fuzing technology applicable to the submunition currently used in the MLRS rocket. The fuze should be compatible with the existing grenade body (Army Part Number (APN) 9357037) and allow for a self-destruct delay of at least 30 seconds after dispersal from the warhead. The required reliability must be such that the combined actions of the impact function and self-destruct function will result in a hazardous dud rate of 1% or less. U.S. and allied industry is requested to provide information in existing format which may be of interest to the U.S. Army in identifying potential self-destruct fuze candidates. Proprietary and classified information will be protected as denoted with submission. Responses (printed material, photographs, etc.) must be less than 30 pages and be delivered not later than 120 days from the date of this notice. This synopsis is to identify potential sources only, does not constitute a request for proposal (RFP), and is not to be construed as a commitment by the U.S. Government. The Government implies no intention or opportunity to acquire funding to support current or future development efforts. Respondents will not be notified of the results of this survey or results of information submitted, and telephone inquiries will not be honored. (0084)
