Contracts Office, Contract@nist.gov. The National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate on a sole source
basis with MTS Systems Corporation, 7400 Browns Farm Road,
Spotsylvania, VA 22553 for a upgrade to NIST existing MTS Servo
Controllers with Model 407 Servo Controllers. These two servo
controllers will be used to fully control existing MTS equipment. One
controller will be used on a 22,000 lb. test machine used for cyclic
loading of selected test specimens. The second controller will be used
to control other MTS equipment in the NIST laboratory used to perform
cyclic tests on larger test specimens. NIST's current MTS controllers
are over fifteen years. MTS Systems Corp. is the only known source
that can supply and integrate these servo controllers. The Government
requires onsite installation and calibration performed by the MTS Field
Service Personnel. MTS will provide operating instructions at the
customer site. During the installation, approximately day will be spent
in informal instruction in the operation of the controllers. One
controller will be calibrated to the existing load frame. The
Government requires testing of the MTS equipment prior to shipment.
Operation and Maintenance Manuals are required. The Government requires
twelve month system warranty from the date of acceptance. Required
delivery within 30 days after contract award. FOB Destination
Gaithersburg, MD. Requests for a copy of a solicitation package will be
disregarded. No solicitation package will be issued. The Government
will verbally request a written quotation from MTS System Corporation.
The Contractor must be able to meet all the requirements stated
herein. The anticipated award date of the contract is on or around May
1, 1998. In accordance with FAR 5.207(e)(3), Numbered Note 22, DOES
