Morton, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-1200 The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) is seeking support from the National Research Council (NRC) to establish various committees and groups to examine issues related to protecting people in buildings from terrorist bomb blast. Products of this effort will include test data from explosive tests on both structural components and entire structures, design guidance for both new construction and retrofits to existing structures, and methodologies for calculating blast loading, structural response, and human injury. National Research Council assistance is required to review program plans and to develop a strategy to transfer this technology to the users which include the military services, other government, and commercial industry.
