H -- EXTENSION OF SUPERCONTAINER DESIGN AUTHORITY POC Sandy Bednoski, Negotiator, (703) 325-6762, Edward Archer, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-5028 The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) has a requirement to extend DSWA contract number DNA001-95-C-0188 for one year in order to provide continued design authority and engineering and technical services support for Supercontainers under the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program. The need to extend the contract is based on on-going prototype testing and production of some Supercontainer product improvement kits. DSWA plans to award a sole source modification to the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) under DNA001-95-C-0188. DSWA believes AWE is the only responsible source given their integral involvement and familiarity with the Supercontainer project thus far. DSWA does not believe AWA could be replaced by another contractor without an extensive orientation period which would cause a significant gap in coverage which would not be acceptable.
