Solicitation F49642-98-R0039 previously published in the CBD on March 3, 1998 has been amended. Amendment 0002 is issued to the above combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware/software, integrating, training, customer support services and shipping worldwide to create 15 Judgmental Use of Force Training Systems (JUFTS). This amendment is issued in accordance with FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only notification of amendment of the above solicitation. A written amendment will not be issued. This amendment is issued to change the solicitation and furnish questions and answers concerning this synopsis/solicitation. The requirement for 164MB RAM is hereby changed to 168MB RAM. The requirement for the Play Only System to support the M11, Shotgun, MP-5 submachine and M-16 weapons is hereby deleted. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: Question No. 1: Is the systems requirement for a 300MHZ processor firm? Answer: Yes. Question No. 2: Since RAM is typically expressed as an exponential factor of 2, is the delineation of 164MB RAM correct. Answer: No. It should be 168MB RAM. Question No. 3: Is it a firm requirement for both the "Edit/Play System" and the "Play Only System" to support the M11, Shotgun, MP-5 submachine and M-16 weapons? Answer: No. Only the Edit/Play System must support the M11, Shotgun, MP-5 submachine and M-16 weapons. Question No. 4: Is Iomega a Government directed source for the "Jaz Drive" or is an alternative reliable, durable, removable storage device acceptable? Answer: An alternate storage device is not acceptable. The requirement is for the Jaz Drive. Question No. 5: Regarding 24 hour spare parts shipping. Can we assume this does not pertain to overseas shipments? Answer: Second day shipping is adequate for overseas locations. Question No. 6: What level of technical expertise is available at each site for parts installation? Answer: Base Communication Specialists are available at each site for parts installations. Question No. 7: Out of the 60 disks, what is the number of uniquely different scenarios? Answer: There are 294 uniquely different scenarios. Question No. 8: How many total scenarios? Answer: There are 2165 scenarios. Question No. 9: How many scenarios have branching capability? Answer: Seventy scenarios have branching capability. Question No. 10: Can we add a separate CLIN to handle international warranty and replacement spare parts? Answer: The Government's requirement remains as stated in the initial RFP, there is no requirement for these services. AMENDMENT ACKNOWLEDGMENT: Proposals must acknowledge receipt of this amendment before the hour and date specified in the synopsis/solicitation. Failure of this acknowledgment to accompany the proposal may result in nonacceptance of your proposal. If as a result of this amendment you desire to change a proposal already submitted forward change pages with changes clearly marked. The letter must refer to the solicitation and this amendment, and be received before proposals are due. The synopsis/solicitation F49642-98-R0039 is amended as indicated above and reopened. No more questions will be accepted as of 25 Mar 98. The hour and date for receipt of proposals is hereby extended to 3:30 PM EST on 30 Mar 98.
