FOURTH JOINT WORKSHOP ON STANDOFF DETECTION FOR CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL DEFENSE -- 26-30 OCTOBER 1998 -- HOSPITALITY HOUSE, WILLIAMSBURG, VIRGINIA The Fourth Joint Workshop on Standoff Detection for Chemical and Biological Defense is being organized the the Joint Science and Technology Panel on chemical and Biological Defense (JSTPCBD) in cooperation with the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Corps. The workshop will address issues related to development of passive and active standoff detectors based on state-of-the-art methodologies for reconnaissance, detection, identification, quantification, and mapping of both Chemical and Biological agents. Such systems will continue to have a profound impact on chemical/biological defense, environmental and food monitoring, the health industry, wind and weather prediction and various research and industrial endeavors. Particular attention will be given in this workshop to the subsystems which make up a standoff detector. Also, the workshop will focus on System Test, New Technologies, and Future Needs. The overall objective of the workshop is to bring together experts and practitioners for a review of the state-of-the-art Science and Technology of CB Standoff Detection and related technologies to serve as the basis for the generation of a comprehensive joint Department of Defense program strategy for the development of the next-generation CB Standoff Detection. The workshop is Unclassified. Participants will include government (military and civilian), academia, and industry representatives.
