Kbeukel@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army TACOM/ARDEC intends to issue a
solicitation for the load, assemble, and pack (LAP) and delivery of
120mm Mortar M931 Full Range Practice Cartridges, NSN 1315-01-451-4546,
and M934A1/M933 High Explosive (HE) Cartridges, NSN's 1315-01-418-4363
(M934A1) and 1315-01-343 -- -1941 (M933). The M931 LAP effort will
involve assembly of Government Furnished (GFM) including shell bodies,
vent tubes, Fins, Fuzes, Ignition Cartridges, Propelling Charges; and
packing of these assembled cartridges into Fiber Containers and Wooden
Overpacks at a production rate of 16,000 a month. The M934A1 LAP effort
will include the explosive loading of GFM Composition B explosive into
a GFM steel shell body; assembly of GFM including Fins, Fuzes,
Ignition Cartridges and Propelling Charges; and packing of these
assembled cartridges into GFM Fiber Containers and Metal Overpacks at
a production rate of 10,000 per month. Required inspection techniques
include radiographic evaluation of HE castings within the shell Bodyin
accordance with a continuous sampling plan. Basic contract is
contemplated to be for a quantity of 82,052 M931's and 42,844
M934A1/M933's and additional components being provided with a potential
of four out year options. Productions deliveries commence approximately
September 1999 (M931) and May 2000 (M934A1/ M933). Competition limited
to US and Canadian sources. Solicitation will be available
