"jjeffrey@natick-emh2.army.mil" (Site Code DAAN02) The U.S. Army
Soldier Systems Command is seeking companies that have the technology
to manufacture Multi Fueled Burner Units for use with field feeding
kitchens as a replacement for the current gasoline fired M-2
non-powered field burner (NSN 7310 01 017 1285) in the M1959 Range
Cabinet. The current burner provides the heat to perform basic field
feeding functions roasting, grilling, frying and heating of water --
required to prepare hot A and B rations, as well as to perform field
sanitation. The new burners must perform all the functions of the
existing M-2 burner and perform its entire duty cycle, ignition,
cooking, refueling and shutoff, inside of the field galley. It is the
Government's objective to receive actual production units with a proven
record of success in either the commercial marketplace or as a result
of direct sales to the U.S. Military. The military's goal is to
eliminate the use of Military Octane Gasoline (MOGAS) on the
battlefield and use distillate fuels for all combat, combatsupport and
combat service support operations. These new burners must have: the
capability of burning a variety of inherently safer fuels having a
higher flash point then gasoline, such as DF-1, DF-2 (diesel), DFA,
DFM, JP-5, JP-8 and kerosene; an electric, self priming pump that will
eliminate the need to manually fill the burner with fuel;
"light-in-place" electric ignition, smoke free startup and operation,
low power draw, and instantaneous on/off capability; a heating
capability of 60,000 BTU/hr, adjustable to less than 25,000 BTU/hr. The
purpose of this notice is MARKET RESEARCH ONLY, NO SOLICITATION
DOCUMENT EXISTS. The request is for product information. Firms
responding should indicate the size of their business and whether it is
considered a disadvantaged business. (0086) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0342 19980331\73-0001.SOL)
