SOLE SOURCE -- The USDA, Agricultural Research Service intends to enter into a sole source contract with Li-Cor, Inc. This contract is to fund the procurement of a Portable Photosynthesis System Package. This equipment is covered by Patent No. 5340987 and 5457320 to protect the unique features of the system. This system shall be used in conjunction with Government-owned equipment procured previously from Li-Cor, allowing interchangability of parts as well as compatibility. It is critical that the carbon dioxide and water vapor analyzer be incorporated into the chamber mixing volume to allow for accurate measurement of photosynthesis and transpiration rates.
