Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) intends to negotiate
noncompetitively with The Boeing Company, dba McDonnell Douglas
Helicopter Systems (MDHS), Mesa, Arizona. The objective of this program
is to enhance the prototype nondestructive inspection (NDI) system
developed under Contract DAAJ02-92-C-0001 with MDHS, to include
hardware, software, neural networks and system integration capabilities
required to perform aviation field trial applications. Two options are
included in the contract: Option 1 is for a joint service -- peculiar
application enhanced prototype system, field trial and system
specification; Option 2 is for an Army-only enhanced prototype system.
MDHS is uniquely qualified to fulfill the requirement based on the
knowledge obtained from designing and developing the computer- aided
NDI system under the previous contract. The proposed effort will use
the previously developed hardware, software, and system integration
technology to advance that technology through completionof field trials
utilizing production prototype hardware. Alpha contracting procedures
will be utilized. Anticipated contract period is 16 months for the base
effort, with 26 months added for either Options 1 or 2, whichever may
be exercised. The contract will contain technical data the export of
which is restricted by the Arms Export Control Act (Title 22, U.S.C.,
Sec 2751 et seq) or Executive Order 12470. Award is restricted to U.S.
