COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 1,1998 PSA#2064CENTRAL CONTRACTOR DATABASE TO ALL PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS: The director of
defense procurement issued a proposed rule (DFARS Case 97-D005, Federal
Register, September 15, 1997) to require that all contractors register
in the Department of Defense Central Contractor Registration (CCR)
database prior to the award of any contract, basic agreement, basic
ordering agreement, or blanket purchase agreement. Previously, this
requirement was scheduled to be implemented with all solicitations
issued subsequent to March 31, 1998. Although the implementation date
has since been postponed indefinitely, you should still register, if
you have not already done so. Registration can be accomplished in one
of several ways: -- You may call 1-888-CCR-2423 to obtain a
registration packet, and then mail or fax the form directly to the
Central Contractor Registration Assistance Center (CCRAC); or -- The
form along with the proposed rule is available on-line at
http://www.acq.osd.mil/ec. Among other information, contractors will
need to provide their DUNS number, taxpayer identification number,
commercial and government entity code, business ownership status, and
all applicable Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes.
Contractors will be required to register once and then annually confirm
that their registration is accurate and complete. Your prompt attention
to this matter is vital in order to remain eligible for future defense
contract awards. For Sacramento District projects currently being
