NOTICE OF INTENT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT WITH C&C TECHNOLOGIES. Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with C&C Technologies for ship time on RV Ocean Alert. Purpose of contract is to procure ship time on research vessel Ocean Alert to conduct a survey on the Heceta Bank. Survey will be centered at 44 degrees 05' N; 124 degrees 53' W on the outer continental shelf/upper continental slop of Oregon in water depths ranging from approximately 50 meters down to 1500 meters. RV Ocean Alert will utilize its Simrad EM300 seabed mapping system to conduct the survey. Ocean Alert's navigation system will allow resolution and positional accuracy at a large range of water depth. Navigation and attitude sensors will enable bathymetry and backscatter to be digitized at high resolution (up to 8 meters grid cell size at depths less than 500 meters) and positional accuracy (<5 meters in x-y-z) to compare observations made with a manned submersible. No other system known with system of comparable resolution and survey efficiency over such a large range of water depths.
