Officer 401-736-1761 BID OPENING DATE IS 05/20/98. Contractor shall
provide all labor, equipment, materials, supervision and transportation
necessary to relocate Plymouth Light (Gurnet Point) Plymouth, MA
(Plymouth County). The light is a historic, timber-framed structure,
constructed circa 1842. It is octagonal -shaped and approx. 30 feet
tall and has an attached 6'x10' entryway, which shall be considered a
part of the lighthouse. The light sits atop an existing 11' tall mound
of earth. The light shall be relocated to a new site, approx. 135'
northwest of its present location. The new site preparation work
consists of constructing a new foundation, constructing a new stairway,
loaming, seed and misc. related work, including the erection of a
temporary government furnished light tower and the demolition of a 25'
tall reinforced concrete structure. THE WORK WILL REQUIRE A CONTRACTOR
WITH PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN RELOCATING HISTORIC STRUCTURES SIMILAR IN
TYPE AND AGE. Evaluation factors, other than cost/price, when combined,
will be evaluated approx. equal to cost/price, therefore, award to
other than the lowest priced offeror or other than the highest
technically rated offeror will be considered in the award. Evaluation
factors are: 1) past performance in relocating similar historic
structures, 2) technical approach to accomplish this project and 3)
cost/price. An option to furnish and place fill around the relocated
light structure will be included and evaluated in determining the
contract award. SIC code is 1799 and the cost range of this project is
estimated between $100k and $250k. After award and upon issuance of a
Notice to Proceed, a period of performance will be established at 120
calendar days to include a 60 day time frame to complete a required
on-site meeting with the Coast Guard, Plymouth Conservation Commission,
Plymouth Historical Society, and local residents to discuss the process
to accomplish the work; and the filing of a required Notice of Intent
with the Plymouth Conservation Commission. Solicitation packagesto be

The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid,
