Z -- MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, AND ALTERNATION OF REAL PROPERTY SOL IFB 618-120-98 DUE 051998 POC Mavis Nelson 612-725-2189 Provide all labor and material to completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures, and perform work for the renovation of the Radiation Therapy Entrance, construction of additional capacity for travel of hydraulic elevator No. 49-1, and limited interior renovations as required by drawings and specifications at VA Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN 55417. General phasing requirements for renovation of elevator equipment includes construction of "tunnel" creating egress from Stairwell 49-B05 to be completed before elevator accessing Radiation Therapy Suite is taken out of service (new elevator 49-1). This installation, including new door from SV-21 to Stairwell 49-B05 will need to be completed prior to work of elevator remodeling. Installation of temporary wheelchair lift to occur during construction of new tunnel, and prior to taking existing elevator out of service for remodeling. Item #1, General Construction: work includes general construction, alterations, roads, walks, grading, drainage, mechanical and electrical work, utility systems, elevators, necessary removal of existing construction, remodeling and additions for an extended operation of the elevator, and certain other items for the Radiation Therapy Entrance. A site walk for prospective contractors will be held on May 5, 1998 at 9:00 a.m. local time; meet in Engineering Service, lower level, Room BR-140. All work will be in accordance with a stringent Phasing Schedule as provided by VA. SIC CODE is 1542 at $7 million dollars. The magnitude of the project is between $250,000 and $500,000.
