Valeta A Kurtze 816-983-3843 (Site Code DACW41) DACW41-98-R-0019 is
advertised "Full and Open" competition. Crane Repair and Load Testing
for a 325 ton bridge crane located inside the powerhouse at Stockton
Power Plant, near Stockton, Missouri. The work includes all necessary
labor, mobilization, manufacturing, machining, welding, design, quality
control and safety requirements for the crane repairs and load testing.
The existing crane controls for the hoists (two (2) 162.5-ton main
hoists and two (2) 30-ton auxiliary hoists), bridges and trolleys will
be removed and replaced with AC flux vector type of controls. Radio
remote control will also be added. The existing mechanical load braking
systems will be modified to make them inoperable. New braking will be
provided by the new controls. The new control system includes new
motors (with shaft mounted encoders for hoist motors, holding brakes
(two for each hoist), master switches, dynamic braking resistors,
isolation operator's cab will be modified to the open pulpit type. Some
design will be requiredby the contractor to successfully integrate all
new components. Load testing to be performed in accordance with OSHA
requirements. Water weight testing is permitted. The work environment
involved will be the interior of the powerplant and approximately 40'
above the operating floor level. The Contractor shall establish and
maintain a quality control system, safety reports and standards, etc.
to ensure contract compliance with OSHA. Contractors will submit in
their proposal documentation to support the following evaluation
factors: Manufacturer's Experience, Installation Contractor's
Experience, Past Performance, Quality Control Organization and
Management. Manufacturer's Experience, Installation Contractor's
Experience and Past Performance are of equal value and are considered
more important than Quality Control Organization and Management.
Quality Control Organization and Management are considered of equal
value. Solicitation will be issued on or about May 14, 1998. Proposals
