Z -- MODIFICATION TO ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM DUE 043098 POC Rita Abeyta, 510/559-6019, FAX 510/559-6023 The U. S. Salinity Laboratory in Riverside, California, was equipped with a constant air volume HVAC system when constructed in 1996. Due to excessive energy consumption, the systems were modified to variable air volume systems. The modification was based on a design-build project performed by the George Yardley Company in 1997-98. In order to better utilize the full potential of the systems maximum energy efficiency, additional equipment and computer software upgrade is required. Since the current systems are still under warranty, the USDA, Agricultural Research Service, will negotiate directly with the George Yardley Company to accomplish this new work. The work calls for the installation of pressure switches at each fume hood exhaust fan, installation of controllers, pressure transmitters and update of computer graphics and data base. Conversion of the chilled and hot water system will require the installation of a 20HP variable speed drive, a 7-1/2HP variable speed drive, EMI/RFI filters, pressure sensors and pressure transmitters. Work will also include start-up and commissioning (to insure that installed upgrades operate in conjunction with existing system), as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and training. A solicitation is not available for this requirement. The Government intends to negotiate with the only known responsible source, the George Yardley Company of Fountain Valley, California. Interested firms that feel they can provide the required service are encouraged to submit information sufficient to determine their capability to complete this task without voiding the manufacturer's warranty.
