National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) intends to
negotiate on a sole source basis with the Beecher Instruments company
to acquire a stretched arrayer for (96) 25x75mm slides, containing two
vacuum chucks and features which include: 48 microscope slides on a
removable vacuum chuck; automatic stacker/loader for 20 microtitre
trays; xyz robot for dispensing; typical cycle time is 70 seconds for
each run through 48 slides with one load of cDNA, including wash/dry
and load time. This time is multiplied by the number of trays times 96
divided by the number of probes in use (1,2,4,8, or 16) to get the
total time; wash/dry station and controls; completely enclosed for
safety and control of cleanliness and humidity; circulating HEPA
filtered clean air system; feedback controlled humidity control system;
computer and software for system control. User may set number of
slides, trays, pins, and copies, as well as various speed and
acceleration parameters, and duration of wash and dry cycles; printing
probes may be arranged in either a linear or compact fashion; and
supplied with 16 long life pins that will allow printing of up to 200
slides per single DNA application. It is to be installed and tuned up
in purchaser's laboratory at the NIEHS in Research Triangle Park, North
