Contact: Frank Targhetta 505-661-4624. Contracting Officer: Frank
Targhetta 505-661-4624. This procurement is in support of the U. S.
Department of Energy's Accelerator Production of Tritium (APT) Project.
This procurement is for the design, manufacture, test and delivery of
a prototype High Voltage Power Supply. This procurement will contain
options to acquire an additional 256 units over a period of 45 months.
All power supplies have a nominal output voltage of 95 kV. The
prototype power supply has a nominal output DC current rating of 17A,
there is a pre-production run of 22 units, 4 of which are rated at
21ADC, and 18 of which are rated at 17 ADC, followed by a production
run of 234 units all rated at 17ADC. The application is to provide DC
power for CW klystron amplifiers. All power supplies may be rated at
21A if there is no significant cost penalty. Otherwise, commonality of
components shall be maximized. A specification and statement of work
has been prepared for each of two power supply technologies, either of
which is considered acceptable for this application. These are: A
conventional power supply consisting of an SCR controller followed by
a transformer/rectifier; or an IGBT PWM power supply with the voltage
division accomplished by multiple transformer secondary windings. These
two power supply types are being tested and evaluated at Los Alamos
National Laboratory, Los Alamos, New Mexico. Responses from proponents
of alternate technologies will be considered provided the following
requirements are satisfied: i. That all specified performance
requirements are fully satisfied, and ii. The technology proposed can
be shown to be applicable and represent a low-risk development.
Offerors must show they have the technical, physical and financial
resources available to successfully satisfy the contractual
requirements and have sufficient experience with similar or related
equipment to be considered a qualified supplier for this procurement.
