Dreger, Contracting Officer, (850)234-4863 The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station, Panama City, Florida, intends to award a sole source contract to MAGNETO INDUCTIVE SYSTEMS LTD (MISL) for the demonstration and empirical verification of magneto-inductive communication channel. This effort is unsuitable for full and open competition because MISL has independently developed unique equipment for both long and short range data communication using this channel. This equipment incorporates proprietary technology which optimizes the power efficiency of the transmitter. They have also developed a proprietary computerized model which allows them to predict system operating ranges given transmitter and receiver dimensions, environmental conditions, source-receiver orientations and available power.
