The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board requires the services of an independent, qualified public accountant to conduct an examination of all accounts and other books and records maintained in the administration of subchapters III and VII of the Federal Employees' Retirement System Act of 1986, Public Law 99-334, (FERS Act) to determine whether books, accounts, etc., have been maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles as of December 31st of each year. Reviews in accordance with standards established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants will be conducted in July of each year.
