84 -- UNIFORM, PHYSICAL FITNESS (PFU) 5-PIECE ENSEMBLE SOL DAAN02-98-T-1132 DUE 051598 POC Purchasing Agent: SANDRA SHOFF (508) 233-4126 (Site Code DAAN02) The U.S. Army Soldier Systems Command has a requirement for Physical Fitness Uniforms (PFU), 5-piece ensemble, in five (5) Sizes -- Extra Small, Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. The ensemble is comprised of an Outer Layer Top, Outer Layer Bottom, Shorts, T-Shirts, and Long Sleeve Shirt. The requirement for the OUTER LAYER TOP is American Player Style 333/J, or equal, with the following salient characteristics: gray and/or Black Nylon Supplex shell fabric, reflective from all angles with night- time retroreflectivity equal to 4.0 candelas (min.); with reflectivity durable to 100 home launderings; with a durable Water Repellant and Stain Resistant Finish; with or without lining; with "ARMY" logo on front; elastic waist or waist drawcord; elastic cuffs; full or 3/4 length front slide fastener or 1/2 length Velcro front opening; hidden hood with drawstring in collar or without hood; and with or without front pockets. The requirement for the OUTER LAYER BOTTOM is American Player Style 333/P or equal, with the following salient characteristics: Gray or Black Nylon Supplex shell fabric which wicks moisture and resists precipitation; with or without lining; elastic leg cuffs; elastic waist; built-in waist drawcord; 14-15 inch side bottom leg slide fasteners; and which is suitable for cold environments. The requirement for the SHORTS is American Player Style 334, or equal, with the following salient characterictics: Black, Nylon shell fabric supplex or equal; quick drying; lightweight; stretch and shrinkage resistant; design Requirements: liner with antimicrobial shield; suitable for swimming; optimal length (bottom hem midway between knee and crotch); proportioned waist and thigh circumference; elastic waist with drawstring; and internal pocket. The requirement for the T-SHIRT is American Player Style 339, or equal, with the following salient characteristics: gray; basic material shall be coolmax or fabric with similar type performance to move (wick) moisture/perspiration from skin to ambient air; must provide reduced odor retention properties; short sleeves; must have back reflective "ARMY" logo on front which activates with automobile head lamps on low beams at a minimum distance of 100 meters at night, within an area of 45 degrees; and the reflective material shall maintain reflectivity after 100 home launderings. The requirement for the SHIRT, LONG SLEEVE is American Player 338, or equal, with the following salient characteristics: gray; basic material shall be CoolMax or fabric with similar type performance to move (wick) moisture/perspiration from skin to ambient air; must provide reduced odor retention properties; long sleeves; mock turtleneck; must have black reflective "ARMY" logo on front which activates with automobile head lamps on low beams at a minimum distance of 100 meters at night; within an area of 45 degrees; reflective material shall maintain reflectivity after 100 home launderings. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR part 12. In addition to the aforementioned items, the Contractor will be required to provide Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and human toxicity test results as follows: a. Dermal Sensitization, b. Primary Dermal Irritation, c. Primary Eye Irritation, and d. Contact Allergy. The Standard Industrial Code for this procurement is 2329. The Small Business Size Standard is 500. This request for Quotation will be released on or about 21 April 1998. Offerors will be allowed to propose on all of the parts of the PFU ensemble, or just individual parts thereof, as they choose. The MSDS's and test results will be required from offerors for each part of the ensemble that they propose.
