System Center, Charleston is soliciting information from potential
sources for production of up to 100 Secure Voice Intercom systems with
the following desired capabilities: (1) At least 15, up to
approximately 25, stations; (2) Stations capable of making
"single-button" calls to any other station or group of stations, or to
pre-defined groups of other stations; (3) High degree of isolation
security against deliberate or accidental eavesdroppers, such as use of
fiber-optic connections; (4) Calling station controls which other
stations may join a call in process; (5) All stations in a call have
visual indication of all other stations in the same call; (6) No
operator action required at called stations to make connections; (7)
Programmable to enable/disable individual stations and to permit/
prohibit connections between selected pairs of stations; (8) Multiple
levels of programmable "executive override" carried with the station
operator from station to station, not tied to the physical station.
There is no firm procurement requirement for these Intercoms at this
time. If a firm requirement develops at some future time, a
fully-competitive solicitationmay be issued for an indefinite delivery,
indefinite quantity type contract with Firm-Fixed-Price delivery
orders, using procurement procedures for commercial, non-developmental
items. This request is for technical information only to enable
government engineers to better understand the equipment and level of
technology currently available in commercial systems. Interested firms
are invited to submit technical data, descriptive literature, or
information brochures. Such material may be submitted by mail to:

PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY
THE GOVERNMENT. THIS IS NOT A SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PROPOSALS,
AND NO CONTRACT WILL BE AWARDED FROM THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO
REIMBURSEMENT WILL BE MADE FOR ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH PROVIDING
INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AND/OR ANY FOLLOW-UP
INFORMATION REQUESTS. RESPONDENTS WILL NOT BE NOTIFIED OF THE RESULTS
OF THE DATA EVALUATION. RESPONDENTS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF ANY
SOLICITATION ISSUED AS A RESULT OF ANY FIRM REQUIREMENT THAT MAY
DEVELOP FOR THIS EQUIPMENT. THE GOVERNMENT RESERVES THE RIGHT TO
CONSIDER A SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE OR 8(A) SET-ASIDE FOR ANY RESULTING
