Z -- FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM BUILDING 6 & 85 SOL 663-33-98 DUE 052998 POC Bill Thompson (253) 589-6095 The American Lake Division of the Puget Sound Health Care System requires the services of a mechanical contractor to provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and supervision for the supply and installation of a fire sprinkler system in Building 6 (domiciliary) and Building 85 (various health care offices) at the American Lake Division Medical Center, 9600 Veterans Way, Tacoma, WA 98493. The new fire sprinkler systems will be in full compliance with NFPA 13 requirements. The fire sprinkler system contractor must be certified in accordance with ASME guidelines for both the development of shop drawings and the installation of the fire sprinkler system. The contractor will be responsible for the development of working drawings for the installation of all risers, piping, sprinkler heads, tamper switches, and flow switches. The Building 6 fire sprinkler system covers approximately 24,000 square feet of interior space on two floors and attic plus a basement area. The fire sprinkler system shall have 2 flow zones per floor. The contractor will provide and install approximately 160 sprinkler heads. In addition, the contractor will provide and install 7 tamper switches and 7 flow switches and wire all switch devices to the existing fire alarm panel in Bldg. 6. The existing dry system will remain. The contract will require the installation of 3 tamper switches to be installed on the existing dry system. The Building 85 fire sprinkler system covers approximately 35,000 square feet of interior space on three floors and attic plus a basement area. The fire sprinkler system shall have 2 flow zones per floor. The contractor will provide and install approximately 370 sprinkler heads. In addition, the contractor will provide and install 9 tamper switches and 9 flow switches and wire all switch devices to the existing fire alarm panel in Bldg. 85. The existing dry system will remain. The contract will require the installation of 3 tamper switches to be installed on the existing dry system. The contractor will be responsible for all testing and will submit to the VA documentation of the system's compliance with applicable NFPA standards. There will be a site inspection on May 14, 1998 at 10AM in Building 17 at the American Lake Division. Completion time will be 180 calendar days following Notice to Proceed. Estimated cost range will be from $250,000 to $500,000. The VA anticipates awarding a firm, fixed contract. Standard Industrial Code is 1711. This solicitation is not set aside for small business in accordance with the Small Business Administration Special Demonstration Program. Construction trades involved are primarily mechanical and electrical. The solicitation package will be available on or about April 28, 1998.
